365 Grateful: Day 167 6/16/2014
I'm grateful for the kindness and generosity of new friends. Met Billy Keane (his father was John B. Keane- an Irish playwright and novelist) last night at his family's pub and this morning he took me and my friend around on a tour of Listowel. Our stops included the Garden of Europe (Ireland’s only public monument in memory of those who died in the Holocaust) and Teampal Ban Famine (a graveyard with a tiny white church where nearly 3,000 people were buried when the famine ravaged the countryside) as well as the train museum (to see where my ancestors would have departed from en route to Dublin to then head to America) and the race track. It sounds depressing, but it was another special day.
