26 Acts of Kindness #1
Like many of us, I'm feeling devastated by the 26 lives lost last Friday in Newtown, Connecticut. It doesn't make sense, and I know it never will make sense.
Also, like many of us, I'm drawn to the good that can come out of something like this. It's just part of who I am. So when I heard about Ann Curry's 26 Acts of Kindness campaign, I decided this was something the husband and I could do to contribute to a positive movement at a time when the country in general seems steeped in sadness.
My gesture tonight was small and rather insignificant. But to the recipient, it was well-received: a 50% tip to the bartender who served us two drinks. I happily passed over the signed bill and said "Happy Holidays." And when I got in the car, I looked at Steve and said "This could be our first act of kindness."
What will you do to contribute to the kindness and be an example of all that is good in this world?
