Second Appointment- Nearly Scheduled. Second Outburst- Not Yet!
Today I was finally able to connect with the Lynne Cohen Preventive Care Clinic, which was another recommendation from a woman I met at the support group last Saturday.
I actually called and left a message on Wednesday, but after not hearing back, I picked up the phone and called again today.
This time I spoke with a lovely woman named Suzanne who also carefully guided me through the process of figuring out my next steps. She was patient and thorough and polite and...caring.
I know I keep saying that, but that's all I really need. Is to be treated with understanding for my situation by someone who isn't desensitized to how scary and unsettling this is for someone who is going through this for the very first time.
I digress.
Anyway.
This appointment is for the ovarian cancer side of things and is with, Dr. Lynda Roman, a gynecological oncologist.
I just now filled out and emailed over new patient paper work and will wait until I hear back next week. Luckily, I was able to email over my family pedigree, the BRCA analysis and the friggin dictation from Old Mother Genetics, and I think that will speed up the process a bit. At least I'm hoping.
For now.
I'm going to get on that plane in a matter of hours.
Go to Maine.
Enjoy being with my sisters, my niece, my brother in-law, his family and most importantly, my husband.
My computer will be shut down just as soon as I publish this post. I'll leave it behind in my office. I'll turn off work email from my iPhone.
Instead, I'll take my camera. My journal. Blank note cards. Two books (Unbroken and Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone) and try like hell to, in the words of a good friend, "Enjoy Maine and put genetics out of my mind for a while."
