I'm not the best at listening to my body.
Clearly.
Take it back.
Okay. I take it back.
Historically, I haven't been very good at listening to my body. But this week, it was impossible to not listen to my body screaming at me to slow the f down, take some time for myself, get more sleep and step away from work.
I got knocked on my ass this week with a nasty cold and fluish type of side effects that left me super sluggish and completely unable to function. I actually called in sick to work on Tuesday. Which is a pretty hard thing to do when you work from home. I don't think I've ever called in sick in the 7+ years that I've been working with my current company. That's how bad it was.
I tried to fend it off on Monday, but after getting a lot of rest and loading up on green tea, vitamins, water and soup, I know my body needed a kind of rest that I just wasn't able to give it while still trying to work.
I haven't worked out since spin class on Monday PM and it's weird the strong pull I have to be on bike 24 right now. But listening to my body is the best thing I can do. More than working out. More than burning calories.
So here I am. Listening to my body's need to really rest, relax and recover. Skipping all forms of working out (the first time in three months that I haven't worked out Monday - Friday) and giving my body the proper amount of time it needs to mend and heal.
Despite weekend visitors and preparing Easter dinner for a small group of family and friends on Sunday, I fully intend to keep up the R&R and come Monday, be fully rested and much more recovered than I am now, so that I can be in spin class on bike 24 come 730pm.
